Mangaluru, Sep 11: "BJP leader, Harish Kanjipili, had assaulted former zilla panchayat member, Saraswati Kamath. The charge was proved in the court which held Harish and 14 others as responsible for the crime. The court has also handed down sentences to the 15 people. If the BJP is genuinely committed to its stated objective of respecting women as their own mothers, the party should immediately suspend these 15 people from the party," demanded Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee president, Harish Kumar.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he challenged the BJP to show its commitment to its tall claims by bringing them to practice. He said that the BJP claims to itself to be following high values of culture and asked the party to show its commitment by bringing it to practice. He said that Saraswati Kamath continued with her legal fight for about eight years before being able to hold high the rights of the women.
