Chikkamagaluru: Devotee offers rat to Lord Ganesha, seeks protection from rats

Chikkamagaluru, Sep 11: Having been fed up by the losses inflicted by the rats which proliferate in his agricultural field and eat away a major portion of the crops, a youth from Markal village in Mudigere taluk offered a rat to Lord Ganesha and sought the Lord's favour in the form of stopping the rates from destroying his crops.

As is customary, the Ganesha idol was installed in Markal village on Friday, the day of Ganesha Chaturthi. A youth from Markal village, Nitin, who caught hold of a rat, offered it to Ganesha and prayed to the Lord to protect his crops from pests like the rats.

As soon as the youth placed the rat on the floor in front of the idol, the rat fled its own life. It has to be seen whether the Lord will accede to his devotee's prayer.
