Chitradurga, Sep 11: In a tragic incident reported from Hirehalli village in Challakere taluk in Chitradurga district, the idol of Lord Ganesha that had been installed there was damaged by miscreants.

The village youth had installed the idol of lord Ganesha on Friday. But at midnight some miscreants vandalised the idol. This has left the villagers utterly worried and overwhelmed. The villagers have expressed their anger and unhappiness at this development.

The young people of the village had been celebrating Vinayaka Chaturthi by installing the Ganesha idol for the last 14 years. This time, as there were uncertainties about the festival, the idol was installed in a hurry at the last minute. The deed of the miscreants has been condemned by the villagers.
