Vijayapura, Sep 9: Two workers working in the solid waste management plant of the city died after having been crushed under the weight of a backhoe on Tuesday September 8.
The deceased have been identified as Rafiq Mahboob Ilkal (41) from Rahim Nagar here and Ayub Shamsuddin Sheikh (55) from J M Road.
These civic workers were trying to repair the backhoe on their own when the bucket of the machine suddenly came down heavily upon them. There was no one to help them and their deaths occurred on the spot, said APMC police station personnel, who registered a case.
