Always have been ready to talk with farmers, says Centre

New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS): The Central government on Sunday reiterated its position that it has always been ready for talks with the farmers.

Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur's comment that the government has always been ready to talk with the farmers came in wake of Bhartiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait's reported announcement towards the end of Muzaffarnagar Kisan Mahapanchayat that the farmers would run a campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protest the three farm laws.

The government has repeatedly maintained that it has always been ready to discuss farm laws with farmers.

"We have deposited Rs 1.5 lakh crore directly into accounts of the farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi for helping the farmer. During Covid-19 time too, we have ensured that farmers get all the more help through banks," Thakur told media persons.

"Our government has also raised an Agricultural Infrastructure Fund for Rs 1,00,000 crore. Many more agriculture mandis have been opened during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's time and they have been connected to e-NAM," he added.

Earlier in the day, thousands of farmers under various banners had assembled at Muzaffarnagar in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh to protest the three farm laws, and also to announce a political campaign ahead of upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

This is all drama by the BJP and the farmers association. Closer to the UP election dates BJP will suddenly announce that the 3 farming laws are on hold. The farmers association will ask everyone to vote for BJP. Everyone is involved in cooking up this drama to hide the real failures of the BJP government on the economic and development front.

The BJP Govt has made a mockery of Parlimentary Democracy by passing these Farm Bills without any discussion in the house or taken any Parlimentary bodies into confidence. It is clear to the people of our country that these three farm bills was a dubious case of match fixing by Modi and Amit Shah for their crony capitalists friends like Ambani and Adani. The elaborate advance preparations , go downs, super markets, land acquisitions and other arrangements by industrialists Abmani and Adani are already in the public domain. These crony capitalists will then dominate the agriculture sector and render the farmers vulnerable and vanquished. . They finally passed it in the Rajya Sabha in a most deceitful manner through a voice vote just to please their Crony Capitalist friends at the expense of the Farmers. A Suit Boot Ki Sarkar that is totally insensitive, Callous, Indifferent, Arrogant and Autocratic that cares two hoots for the lower sections of our society including farmers. "Since Independence, it is for the first time that an arrogant government has come to power. It is not even looking at the pain and sufferings of farmers, forget about the common man,"If Agriculture is a State subject the why has the center passed Bills on Farm Laws on Agriculture
