Decision on recruitment for vacant teacher posts soon: B C Nagesh

Bengaluru, Sept 5: A decision on recruitment to fill up vacant posts of teachers in primary and secondary schools will be taken soon, Primary and Secondary Education Minister B C Nagesh said on Sunday.

Addressing the State-level Teachers Day 2021 function and also presentation of State and National awards to teachers, he said the State Government was aware of the shortage of teachers in many schools and mentioned that he has personally visited some of the districts to study the problem, which has been brought to the notice of the Chief Minister.

``The State Government will take a decision on completing the recruitment to fill up the vacant posts soon,’’ he said.

Karnataka has over 48,000 government, aided and unaided schools and a total of over 77,000 primary and high schools with 4.20 lac teachers, he said and warmly appreciated the role played by teachers during the severity of the Covid 19 pandemic.

It was the teachers who came forward in the reopening of schools and resumed duties soon after a decision on reopening was taken, he said and pointed out that teachers contributed a lot in successfully conducting SSLC examinations in which 8.75 lac students appeared.

The minister said several schools have very good laboratories and were equipped with best of facilities. The Government is keen to improve all schools and their infrastructure, he said.

Nagesh launched the ‘’Namma Shaale, NannaKoduge,’’ web portal to enable donors to contribute and help in providing facilities in the schools which gives all details.

The donors can choose the schools for which they want to extend financial assistance and directly transfer funds through the web portal by using UPI, Debit or Credit cards. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai released ‘’Yashomarga’’ book.

Shivajinagar Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad, MLC A Devegowda, Education Department Principal Secretary Umashankar, Commissioner for Public InstutionAnbukumar, Pre-University Board Commissioner Snehal and others participated in the programme.
