Kasargod: Kerala to impose night curfew from Aug 30

Kasargod, Aug 26: As Kerala is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases due to the relaxation of lockdown, the government will impose night curfew from Monday August 29. The night curfew will be imposed from 10 pm to 6 am.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Complete lockdown will be enforced on Sundays.

In the meeting, it was decided to impose lockdown in the areas where the positive cases increase above 7% in a week. Though other states in the country have been successful in controlling the spread of the Covid-19, the Kerala government has failed. As much as 80 per cent of the patients admitted to the hospital are tested positive. In the past three days, the number of positive patients have increased to 30,000. To prevent the spread of the third wave of Covid-19, the government has taken prevent measures now.

On Saturday, as many as 521 people tested positive for Covid-19 and 550 people have been discharged from hospital. As many as 4,900 people are under treatment and 19,482 people are under observation. A total of 1,22,850 positives cases have been confirmed till now and 1,16,954 have been discharged from hospital.
