Bengaluru, Aug 23: A youth was going through agony at the sudden disappearance of his sister for the last 16 days. As if by coincidence the police traced her on Sunday August 22, which happened to be Raksha Bandhan. The youth, who was elated, got his sister to tie the customary rakhi around his wrist and made her to eat a piece of cake. The brother and the entire family thanked the police for making this possible.

Vivek Reddy, son of Rimi Reddy, had complained to the police that his mother had gone missing from Aster Hospital, Amruthahalli here on August 6. The police who verified the CCTV footage saw that an unidentified man had taken the woman away in his motorbike. Initially the police suspected it to be a case of kidnap and checked the CCTV cameras in the areas around the region. They found out that the woman had got down from the motorbike in Veerannanapalya. Thereafter they checked over 400 CCTV cameras around the area but could not find any information about the lady's movements. Therefore the police confirmed that the lady had gone missing.

The police then checked over a hundred CCTV cameras in DJ Halli, Govindapura and K G Halli and contacted over 50 Ashrams. They also searched in bus stands and railway stations without any result.

They also made pamphlets containing the details of the lady and distributed them among the people. The police also provided details and sought information about the lady through social media post. A person who saw this, informed that the woman was in an Ashram near Bachigoppa within Tavarekere police station limits. The police went there and confirmed the presence of the lady there. On Raksha Bandhan,

the lady was brought back. She was welcomed back by her brother as per Raksha Bandhan traditions.

Rimi Reddy from Jharkhand had come here a few years back. She knew only Bengali and was mentally weak. As she was not aware of the route to her house, she had gone missing. Her son, Vivek Reddy works in a software company here, said northeast division deputy commissioner of police CK Baba.
