Bagalkot: Three on temple visit meet watery grave

Bagalkot, Aug 23: In a tragic incident which happened at Shivayoga Mandir in the taluk on Sunday August 22, three persons drowned in Malaprabha river. All the three deceased persons belonged to the same family.

Those who were killed in the incident were Vlishwanath Mavinamarada (40), Sridevi Mavinamarada (32), and Nandini Mavinamarada (12). They belonged to Kotekal village in Guledgudda taluk but were currently staying at Ron, Gadag district.

The family had paid obeisance at Banashankaridevi temple in Badami and then visited Shivayoga Mandir. They had sat down on the bank of the river to have food. Nandini, who went to wash her hands, slipped and fell into the river. Her father, Vishwanath, and aunt, Sridevi, jumped into the river in an attempt to save Nandini's life, but both of them drowned. Both the bodies were recovered from the river and search for Nandini's body is continuing.
