Kundapur: Cyber security awareness held at Don Bosco School, Trasi

Kundapur, Aug 10: The department of Wellness of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Trasi conducted an awareness program on Cyber Security for the students of Secondary and Senior Secondary section on virtual mode here recently. The expert from the field, Prithveesh K, founder of Prithvision established in Udupi, was the main resource person for the programme.

The experienced speaker enlightened the participants about the current issues related to cyber security and shared his knowledge about parental control with real life examples. He addressed the concerns through a demonstration related to current trending issues of money scam, fraud links, gaming, social media which has been affecting most of our children’s lives, especially the teenagers and the role of the parents and guardians in keeping their virtual life safe. The session was successful with the active participation of teachers, parents and students.

“Cyber criminals have found a way of attacking people through the virtual mode. It is very important for all of us using the gadgets to be aware of the possible consequences and be knowledgeable to protect ourselves. Cyber Security is the practice of protecting systems, networks and programs from digital attacks”, he added.

The surge in online schooling and the pandemic’s effect in recent times has increased the screen time for children and adults equally. The time where number of electronic gadgets in the house is more than the residents, the mental wellbeing of people becomes a burning question. Thus, designing a wellness program which includes education, fitness challenges, therapy and many other plans structured to increase the overall health of an individual becomes important at every school.

The online programme was organized under the guidance of Rakshita N J, head of the Wellness Department of the school. She was ably assisted by the students of ‘Club of Life’ belonging to Senior Secondary School. About 60 students and their parents participated in the programme that lasted over 2 hours. The principal, Maxim D’Souza addressed the participants and concluded the session.
