Mangaluru: Athena Institute of Health Sciences observes 'Breast Feeding' week

Mangaluru, Aug 6: The students of fourth year BSc Nursing and third Year GNM of Athena Institute of Health Sciences organized Breast Feeding programme on account of Breast Feeding week August 1 - 7, on 5th August at Ganjimatt PHC.

During the inaugural ceremony Dr Amith Raj, medical officer, Sunil Kumar, taluk panchayath member highlighted the importance of the day and appreciated the interest and enthusiasm of the staff and students to organize such programmes in remote PHC.

Sr Deepa Peter - principal, Sr Aileen Mathias - vice principal and Hemalatha G - HOD of OBG nursing department were present and inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Hemalatha G welcomed the gathering followed by a skit and health talk regarding breast feeding and awareness about Covid – 19 by nursing students. Number of mothers with their children benefitted from the programme. Lerissa, assistant lecturer delivered vote of thanks. We thank our Chairman R S Shettian for his constant help and support.
