Bidar tahsildar Gangadevi arrested by ACB when accepting bribe

Bidar, Jul 29: First grade tahsildar here, Gangadevi, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel, on Wednesday July 28 when accepting a bribe of Rs 15 lac at her residence in Anand Nagar here.

She was nabbed red-handed when accepting bribe from Leeladhar and Amrutlal Patel from Vidyanagar extension here when the raid happened. The tahsildar reportedly had placed a demand for a bribe of Rs 25 lac for the mutation of 2 acres and 25 guntas of land belonging to Patels in Chidri in the town. It is said that she had demanded for a bribe of Rs 25 lac, and was trapped when accepting Rs 15 lac.

An ACB team led by its superintendent of police, Mahesh Meghannavar, conducted the raid on Wednesday morning when Gangadevi was accepting bribe in her rented home in Anand Nagar here. Gangadevi is a native of Marathhalli Bengaluru.

Leeladhar Amrutlal is an entrepreneur. He had bought 2 acres 25 guntas of land from a person in Chidri, Bidar. The sale was registered and Patel had applied for the mutation supported with documents in the office of the tahsildar. As per the instructions of the officials in the office, Leeladhar had met the tahsildar. The tahsildar had demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lac, saying that the issue is very much complicated.
