Srinagar, Sep 16 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday thanked Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for backing him.
"I am grateful to Rahul Gandhi for his support. I will thank him personally," the beleaguered Abdullah told TimesNow channel, soon after the Congress leader came out in his support.
Speaking in Kolkata, Gandhi said: "We need to give Omar time and support. Kashmir is a tough job."
There have been calls for Abdullah's resignation following mass protests in the Kashmir Valley that have left nearly 90 people dead, mostly in firing by security forces.
