Mangaluru, Jul 7: The National Service Scheme unit of Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science Commerce and Management (YIASCM) on July 2 conducted a Covid-19 mega vaccination drive on the Balmatta campus.

The mega drive majorly focused on vaccinating the staff members and students of YIASCM. The dose administered was Covishield and was freely given to all the staff and students. The drive started at 10.30 am, in the presence of the principal Dr Parvadhavardhini Gopalakrishnan, vice-principal Dr Shareena P and NSS officer Pavitra Shetty. All the staff members as well as the students followed the Covid-19 protocols of social distancing and wearing masks.

The campus was sanitized before the drive commenced. The student volunteers and non-teaching staff supported the drive and made sure the vaccination drive went smooth without any major hurdles.

The NSS unit had arranged for separate registration counters and tokens were given to the members on a first come first serve basis. The ones who got vaccinated were in the waiting room and observed for 30 minutes. The purpose of the drive was also to spread awareness regarding the current pandemic situation and care that has to be taken by citizens in controlling the spread of the virus.

The camp concluded at 3.30 pm, with close to 450 people vaccinated. The vaccination drive was a huge success and the NSS student volunteers did a great job at managing the attendees.

The district health officials and Asha workers and Covid warriors are appreciated for their dedication.
