Mangaluru, Jul 6: "Prevention is better than cure. Vaccination is an effective way of curbing the present pandemic," said Poornakala Y K, chief officer of Bajape Pattana panchayat in her inaugural address of the vaccination drive at Shree Devi Institute of Technology Kenjar, here. She said, "The Government of Karnataka has made it mandatory for college students to take the vaccine so that academic activities can begin. The Mangalore District Health and Family Welfare department along with colleges in Mangaluru is organising vaccination drives so that the maximum number of students can take the vaccine. Even after taking the vaccine we cannot take the pandemic lightly. The covid protocols have to be followed to avoid future Covid cases."

Dr K E Prakash, principal and director of Shree Devi Institute of Technology, in his presidential address spoke about the importance of vaccination. He said, "Vaccination helps people to develop an immune system which will protect them from the pandemic."

In the inauguration, Dr Vijaya D P Alva, HoD of the Chemistry department, convenor of the programme welcomed the gathering, Dr Gayathri B J, HoD of MBA department delivered the vote of thanks. Around 400 students were vaccinated in the drive.
