Panaji: Mob gheraos Bicholim police station over rape of minor girl

Panaji, Jul 6: Bicholim police station was gheraoed by a mob of locals, social activists and others, who demanded the arrest of more people connected with the rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Mahesh Gadekar, PI of Bicholim police station, pacified the agitators and said that more arrests would be made after recording the statement of the victim and it will be done within four days. The mob cautioned the PI that they will resort to furious protests if the cops do not catch the culprits within four days.

The agitating group led by Shailendra Velingkar, son of former RSS chief Subhash Velingkar demanded the police to let them have a conversation with the victim girl before recording her statement in the court.

Bicholim police arrested Arman Khan (19) on June 25 after the doctors at GMC alerted them of a minor girl getting pregnant during her medical examination. It is said that the incident of rape has taken place six months ago.

The agitators also submitted a memorandum to the Bicholim police urging them to arrest all those who are involved in this case and book them under POCSO.
