Panaji: 26-year-old-woman jumps off Mandovi bridge, saved

Panaji, Jun 30: A 26-year-old-woman hailing from Odisha reportedly jumped off the Mandovi bridge in Panaji on Tuesday June 29. The woman is said to have had a dispute with her husband and decided to take the step, police said. However, she was saved by her neighbour and a local fisherman.

On Monday night, the woman had a fight with her husband who then left home at Mardol for his workplace at Calangute, the Porvorim police said. The woman went to meet her husband, along with a neighbour after he did not answer her call. "While returning, she asked her neighbour to stop his two-wheeler and jumped off the bridge," police said.

Seeing the woman, the neighbour also jumped in immediately to save her police said, adding that a local fisherman helped save her.
