Vijayapura: Police arrest four who went underground after committing honour killing

Vijayapura, Jun 25: Relating to the honour killing of two lovers at Saladahalli in the district, the police have succeeded in arresting four out of five accused who had escaped after committing the crime.

The arrested men happen to be Bandagisab Kashimsab Tambad (52), who is the father of the murdered girl, his son-in-law, Allapatel Lalesab Vallibhai (32), another son-in-law, Rafiq Lalesab Vallibhai (26) and the girl's brother, Davalpatel Bandagisab Tambad (20). Lalesab Vallibai (32) is absconding.

In this case, the girl had fallen in love with Basavaraj Badigera from her village. When her father came to know of it, he had warned the boy against coming closer to his daughter. Still the two lovers went along. The father saw on Monday afternoon that the two were together in the field. He got angry, rushed there with his sons-in-law and son, murdered the two, and escaped. A complaint had been registered in this connection on Kalakeri police station.

District superintendent of police, Anupama Agarwal, had visited the spot. The special investigation team formed to crack the case arrested four. The SP said that search for the fifth accused who is on the run, is under way.
