Shivamogga: Ban on movement of heavy vehicles along Agumbe Ghat till Oct 15

Shivamogga, Jun 24: Deputy commissioner, G Jagadeesh on Thursday, June 24 banned the movement of heavy vehicles on Agumbe Ghat till October 15.

As there is a possibility of landslides on either side of the Ghat road, the district administration banned movements of heavy vehicles on NH169 Thirthahalli-Agumbe road as per Motor Vehicle Act 1988 under Column 115 and Karnataka Motor Vehicle Act 1989 Column 221 (a)(2) and (5).

The Agumbe Ghat connects Shivamogga with the Udupi district. The movement of all heavy vehicles above 12 tonnes is banned on the road. Till the end of the monsoon, all the heavy vehicles will be required to travel via Udupi-Siddapura-Hosangadi-Balebara Ghat-Hulikal-Masthikatte Ghat-Theerthahalli-Shivamogga.

The vehicles can also travel from Mangaluru-Karkala-Hebri-Siddapura-Hosangadi-Balebara-Hulikal-Masthikatte-Thirthahalli-Shivamogga, informed a press release from DC office.
