Bengaluru: Inhuman torture of children - Couple arrested

Bengaluru, Jun 24: A couple stands arrested in an alleged incident in which the father of three small children, joining hands with his second wife, inflicted inhuman torture on his children. The couple has been arrested.

Tamilselvan (45) from Ragigudda here, and his second wife, Satya (35), have been arrested. Injured children, Saumya (3), Raghavan (4) and Nitesh (6), stand admitted into Victoria Hospital for the treatment of bruises, cuts, and burn injuries. The police said that the condition of one of the children is critical.

Tamilselvan, who hails from Tamil Nadu, works as the driver of a Cruiser vehicle. He had married a lady named Anjali eight years back. The couple has three children. Unknown to Anjali, he had married Satya three years back. He was having family with her elsewhere and she has two children.

Anjali died due to ill health three months back. After Anjali died, Tamilselvan brought Satya home. Satya had left her two children with her parents, the police said.

Under the influence of Satya, Tamilselvan began to torture his three children. He used to stuff clothes into the mouths of the children. By heating a knife, they had burnt the children's skin in the shoulder, hand and feet. By using a hacksaw blade they had cut their skin. The locals also said that they also used to pierce the children with a screwdriver.

The neighbours observed that the children always wore sweaters. Growing suspicious, they opened the sweaters and found injuries all over the bodies of the children. Thereafter, the couple, at around 9 pm on Monday, had branded the children with red hot iron. Thereafter, the police were informed.
