Beltangady: Life partners leave world in close succession

Beltangady, Jun 24: In an incident which happened in Neriya village in the taluk, a husband-wife duo which was being treated for covid19 infection died 24 hours apart.

Saramma (58) from Parandadi in Neriya village died in Wenlock Hospital Mangaluru on June 22, her husband, Ibrahim (68), passed away in a private hospital in Mangaluru on June 23 morning.

After they were diagnosed with coronavirus infection on June 19, they were initially treated at the Beltangady government hospital. They were then taken to Mangaluru for advanced treatment. After Ibrahim's heart-related complications worsened, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Both of them were being treated in hospitals thereafter. Saramma died on Tuesday while Ibrahim followed her on Wednesday. Cause of their deaths is yet to be confirmed. The funeral of both the deceased was performed at Neriya Jumma Masjid burial ground duly following the Covid norms.
