Bengaluru: Bi-monthly members meeting of Kanara Entrepreneurs held

Bengaluru, Jun 23: The bi-monthly members meeting of Kanara Entrepreneurs was held on Friday, June 18 on an online platform. The meeting commenced sharp at 7:00 pm IST with the KE prayer recited by Leena Lobo.

A minute’s silence was observed in prayer for the repose of the soul of KE member, Jose Thomas who passed away on April 27 and also for the family members of several other KE members, who had departed recently, due to Covid and other ailments.

Following this, Charles Gomes – the outgoing president of KE Bengaluru welcomed and addressed the members from KE Bengaluru, KE Dubai and the global virtual members attending the online meeting. Charles Gomes also extended a warm welcome to KE global chairman Ivan Fernandes who was attending this program all the way from the US. In view of the global pandemic and subsequent challenges faced by the community, Charles stressed that smooth rides didn’t make good drivers and good weather did not make good pilots. He urged fellow members to sharpen their skills and take necessary steps to enable each one to come out successfully as champions.

Following this three KE members presented their business pitches

Vilina Sequeira – Founder of Docens Training and HR Consulting Pvt Ltd made a presentation and informed the members about her experiences of 18 Years on talent acquisition.

Juliet Miranda a professional make-up artist from Juliet Makeovers an artistry makeup studio and salon, gave insights about her expertise as a make-up artist. She is certified by the famed Vejetha Anand`s Makeup & Hair Academy And Hari Make-up, Mumbai.

Winkle Mathias, a landscapist from Down2earth made a presentation on landscaping and beautification of various spaces ranging from lawns, terrace gardens and other green spaces.

After the business pitches, KE global chairman, Ivan Fernandes installed and administered the oath of office to the incoming president and directors on the Bengaluru Board. Clarence Pereira took charge as president, KE Bengaluru, while Ashly D’Souza and Eric D’Silva were installed as director of finance and director of marketing and sponsorship, respectively.

Ivan Fernandes during his chairman’s address spoke about how to convert the current pandemic situation into an opportunity along with some examples from the recent past. Ivan Fernandes concluded by wishing the very best to the incoming president and his BOD team. Ivan Fernandes also took this occasion to release the new KE app version 2.0 and spoke about the upgrades and improvement that this app had. He urged fellow members to upgrade their apps to the new version.

The newly installed president, Clarence Pereira, in his address thanked the global chairman, Ivan Fernandes and the past presidents of KE and sought their support and guidance during his tenure. He stressed that he would put in his best effort to take KE to the next level. Clarence commended the efforts of his predecessor Charles Gomes and his BOD team, for successfully leading the organization for the past two years and also for ensuring a smooth transitioning from the regular physical format of the KE Meetings to the digital-driven online networking meetings, and also keeping the members occupied and informed through a series of webinars on different topics.

Clarence Pereira also acknowledged the yeomen services of the outgoing directors of finance Stan D’Souza and of marketing and sponsorship, Arun Fernandes and commended the excellent efforts put into their respective roles. Clarence also stressed the fact that our individual networking at KE could grow stronger and better, while members take an interest to know more about each other`s business, each other's struggles and successes and highlighted the fact that Networking was an enrichment program and not an entitled program.

Pramod then presented the Co-Vid Initiative report summarizing the efforts from KE to help the community when Bangalore was reeling under severe oxygen shortage and hospital bed allocation issues. He thanked fellow KE Members, Santhosh Sequeira, Eric Robert Dsilva, Arun Fernandes, Peter Anil Rego, Sachin Dsouza, Jaijo Joseph, Aaron Rego, Neil Joseph and Pramod Dsouza, who lead this initiative and arranged oxygen cylinders, ICU beds, ambulances for the needy. He thanked all KE members who rose to the occasion and collectively donated Rs 27 lac towards this initiative. He also thanked Kanara Catholic Association - Bengaluru, Deccan Group, Ferns Estates and Konkan Catholic Association - Mathikere for partnering with KE and supporting with contributions.

After the formal meeting proceedings concluded, the floor was handed over to award-winning international clown and KE member, Martin Flubber D'Souza, who entertained the members with his witty tasks and funny one liners.

The meeting concluded with Royline Rodrigues proposing the vote of thanks. Brian Pais as MC took the members through the meeting agenda and the series of events. 101 members attended the online format of the KE meeting.
