Mangaluru: Govt organisations distribute food kits to construction workers at Rohan Square

Mangaluru Jun 22: District labour department, District Legal Services Authority and Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board distributed ration kits to construction workers here at Rohan Corporation’s Rohan Square construction site at Pumpwell on Tuesday, June 22.

As many as 400 ration kits were distributed to the construction workers during the distribution program.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, "The government is distributing ration kits to the construction workers. In many construction sites, labourers from different states are working for the development. I urge the workers not to go back home during the lockdown and stay back, as the government is providing facilities like food kits and financially compensation of Rs 3,000."

The government is providing 2,000 ration kits to every constituency in the district for construction workers  who are registered in the labour department. Along with ration kits, health and hygiene kits will be soon distributed, said labour officer, Wilma.

District and session's judge of Dakshina Kannada, B Murlidhar Pai, corporator, Sandeep Garodi, member secretary of District Legal Services Authority, A G Shilpa, District labour officer, Wilma, Amarendra and others were present.
