Bengaluru, Jun 19: The investigation into the bed blocking scandal is in the final stages. Charge sheet in the case has been filed in the additional chief metropolitan magistrate's court against three persons including Babu, said to be a close associate of BJP MLA Satish Reddy. As there was a spurt in the number of patients and demand for beds, particularly the oxygen ones, went up, some had started the business of allotting beds. They reportedly manipulated the computer programmes to falsely block beds and allot them to people known to them. When the business came to light after MP Tejasvi Surya, exposed the racket, the central crime branch (CCB) police quickly took up the investigation.

In their charge sheet, the CCB police have said that they have evidence to prove that the accused booked government quota beds in private hospitals and sold them for money. They said they have a record of having collected money from the patients.

In this respect, two separate cases were registered in Jayanagar station and HSR Layout stations. CCB police have filed a charge sheet relating to one case out of two separate cases. CCB inspector, Sridhar Poojary, has filed charge sheets against three persons relating to the case. The accused happen to be Babu, said to be a close confidante of MLA Satish Reddy, Rohi, and Netravati. The trio worked together and the report mentions that the three had conducted monetary transactions with several patients. Money amounting to Rs 80,000, 25,000 and 20,000 were collected for allotting beds, and transactions were put through Google Pay, PhonePe etc, it has been explained in the charge sheet. The charge sheet contains 290 pages. In the second case, eight persons have been arrested and CCB police have made good progress in irregularities said to have happened in some prestigious hospitals in the city.
