Mysuru, Jun 19: In an incident which happened on Mahadeshwara temple road in Periyapatna in the district, a man murdered his daughter with a sickle.
The victim in the incident has been identified as Gayatri (21). Her father, Jayaram, who has been accused of committing this crime, has surrendered to the police.
Gayatri reportedly was in love with a youth from another caste. Her father had counselled her many times against falling for a boy who is not from the caste to which the girl belonged. As she stood firm on marrying the boy of her choice, Jayaram turned very angry. On Friday, Jayaram was working in his field. His daughter came there to deliver his lunch. Jayaram suddenly attacked his daughter with his sickle and killed her on the spot, it is said.
