Udupi, Jun 11: District Youth Congress staged a protest in front of Alevoor petrol bunk today condemning the increase in fuel prices.

The protesters expressed anguish and shouted slogans against the BJP government.

Municipal council member, Ramesh Kanchan said that the government is acting exactly opposite to what it promised when it came to power. "It is making life miserable for the poor by increasing the prices of diesel, petrol and gas. We expect that the people will teach the BJP government a lesson in the days to come. Awareness should be created among people about BJP's anti-people policies,” he said.

Udupi district Congress spokesperson, Krishna Murthy Acharya said, "If the union government and state governments unite, despite GST, petrol can be sold for Rs 42. The price of everything else increases if petrol and diesel prices rise. The people should teach the BJP government a lesson by removing the party from power."

Youth Congress president, Deepak Kotian Inna, Alevoor gram panchayat president, Pushpa Anchan, vice president, Sudhakar Poojary, Alevoor Harish Kini, Yathish Karkera, Vishwas Ameen, Alevoor panchayat member, Jallesh, Shabareesh and others were present.
