Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School celebrates World Environment Day

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 7: “Earth is a fine place and is worth fighting for”, said Ernst Hemmingway, an American novelist.

To incorporate the theme: Reimagine, Recreate, Restore in the young minds, World Environment Day 2021 was celebrated by the students of classes I to XII of Lourdes Central School on June 5 in a virtual platform.

A video on 'Conservation of nature' was shown to the students. The importance of nature and natural resources was highlighted. The negative impact of day-to-day human activities on the environment was explained. The earth anthem penned by poet Abhay K was sung with an intention of doing more for the restoration of the ecosystem.

The students were asked to collect the seeds of a fruit or a vegetable and sow them in their garden. They were also asked to nurture the saplings. This activity was conducted for the students to make them realize how each one can contribute to a better environment.
