Chiranjeevi to Don Grease Paint Again

Hyderabad, Aug 22 (IANS): Two years after taking a plunge into Andhra Pradesh politics, Telugu superstar K. Chiranjeevi has decided to again act in films.

On the occasion of his 55th birthday Sunday, his son and young actor Ramcharan Teja announced that Chiranjeevi's new film would be ready by his next birthday.

The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president, whose political innings has not started on a successful note as his film career, will be acting in his 150th film.

Teja made this announcement after cutting a cake at Chiranjeevi Blood Bank here to celebrate his father's birthday with large number of his fans.

He told reporters that since Chiranjeevi's fans were eager to see him again on the screen, he would soon act in a film.

During a recent function to release the audio of "Robo", starring Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi expressed his desire to act in films again.

He confessed that after watching the promos of "Robo", the artiste in him desired to do a movie.

Chiru, as he is popularly known, floated the PRP in August 2008, promising to bring a change in state's politics. However, the start of his political career proved a flop show with the party winning only 18 seats in 294-member assembly.

Despite the setback, Chiru is trying to remain afloat. He recently expressed the confidence that the PRP would come to power in the state.

In a film career spanning over three decades, Chiru has acted in 149 films. His popularity is often compared with matinee idol N.T. Rama Rao but the latter's political entry was a big hit with his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) coming to power within nine months of its formation in early 1980s.
