Udupi: St Mary's College organised virtual workshop on 'Cybersecurity & Ethical Hacking as Career'

Udupi, May 31: The department of computer science at St Mary's College, Shirva in collaboration with Data Space Security Pvt Ltd organised a virtual workshop on Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking as a career for BCA students, on May 28 at 9.30 am.

The first session was deliberated by the resource person, Samiran Santra CEO and founder, Data Space Security Pvt Ltd. Santra who is an expert in ethical hacking, in his speech spoke on cybersecurity and cyber safety which have become the need of the hour and ethical hacking, that has become the most demanded and lucrative career option at present. "This is a part of our cyber awareness programme. Every student has a wide range of job opportunities in this area," he said.





 
Samiran also pointed out the requirement of experts in this field in the future. The session focused mainly on smartphone hacking and its prevention, how social media is compromised and its proper use, what is SQL Injection, (live demonstration) using RAT to show how the system is compromised, (live demonstration) WhatsApp hacking and proper use, prevention of threats etc. He motivated the students to take up challenging issues of the current world.

The second session was deliberated by Moutuli Mitra, chief business development officer, Data Space Security Pvt Ltd. The session involved topics on understanding various career prospects. She gave a picture of the career prospect in the field of cybersecurity in detail. She concluded her session by explaining the differences in the area and the salary packages available in this field across India and abroad. Third-year BCA students, faculty members from the department were present at this programme.
