Panaji, May 27: The Cyclone Tauktae has resulted in extensive damage to plantations in Nanora, Usap, Kharpal, Ladfe, Kasarpal, Bhatwadi and surrounding areas of the Latambarcem village panchayat in Bicholim taluka.

Many of the farmers here had taken up banana, papaya, and mango plantations with the government promoting farming. However, the cyclone has caused them to sustain economic losses. "It has shattered our dreams," plantation owners Rama Maulingkar and Pramod Kelkar said.

After incurring heavy losses, the farmers have demanded that the government compensate them for the losses.
