Kasargod: Cyclone Tauktae effect – Sea erosion, many houses in danger of getting washed away

Kasargod, May 15: Heavy rains are lashing the district as a result of the effect of Cyclone Tauktae at the Arabian Sea. Many houses on the sea shore are on the verge of collapse due to sea erosion.

The waves in the sea are violent at Uppala, Musodi, Kasargod Cherangai etc. Two houses at Uppala Musodi sea shore are washed away by the sea. As the inmates of the house had left right in time to safer places, no loss of life has occurred.

A two storey house belonging to Moosa collapsed on the morning of Saturday, May 15 at Musodi. More than five houses are in danger of getting collapsed due to sea erosion. Inmates of these houses are already shifted to safer places. Sea erosion has intensified in the past two to three days at Musodi sea shore. Sea water has gushed inside four houses of Cherangai sea shore. People living in these houses are shifted to the houses of their relatives.

Two houses are partly damaged at Vellarikundu Balal due to high velocity winds. Flood water has entered two houses at Chittari. The intensity of rain reduced towards afternoon on Saturday.
