Udupi: 'Resign from post, instead of hanging yourselves' - Sorake slams DVS

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (DV)

Udupi, May 14: After union minister, DV Sadananda took strong objection to the criticism made by the High Court and said "should we hang ourselves if we cannot vaccinate people as directed by the courts," former minister and MP Vinay Kumar Sorake remarked that union minister DV Sadananda Gowda should surrender himself before people by tendering resignation from the ministerial position, instead of hanging himself.

It may be recalled that union minister DV Sadananda Gowda and BJP national general secretary CT Ravi on Thursday took strong objection to criticism by Karnataka HC judges for the alleged poor handling of the Covid-19 situation in the state on Thursday, May 13.

In a press release, Sorake informed, the entire country had to bow before the world, as the BJP-led government, neglected the reports and suggestions by the experts and doctors regarding the second wave of Covid-19. The laxity of the government resulted in the death of several people in the country. In this regard, the union minister DV Sadnananda Gowda who has given irresponsible statements should resign from the cabinet position, Sorake said.

"There is a shortage of beds, oxygen, ventilators, vaccines in hospitals. The things that are essential for the management of the Covid-19 situation, are scarce. This because of the misadministration of the BJP government. Thus, the top court which noticed this had directed to form a task force involving experts and doctors. But, the state and union government could not tolerate the direction from the court and the union minister DV Sadananda Gowda took a strong objection to remark made by the High Court," he added.

"The political representatives who take oath as per the Constitution failed to protect the interest of the people. To escape from the responsibility, they are giving such statements and betraying the people," Sorake alleged.

He further urged the ministers to resign from their posts instead of hanging themselves. "CT Ravi who is eligible for contempt of court should also tender his resignation from his post," Sorake said.

He also said that the BJP government is indulged in anti-poor policy and is not providing any alternate facilities for the poor amid lockdown.

"The government has no moral responsibility as they have played with the life of people and failed to handle in the Covid situation. The Prime Minister and chief minister of state should resign so that lives of people can be saved," he said.

The Prime Minister has completely failed to provide a sense of safety, direction or leadership during this massive human crisis we are facing. The lack of planning and preparation between the first and the second wave is the worst act of negligence of an incompetent government.
