Udupi, May 8: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee panellist Veronica Cornelio has urged not to play politics with Covid-19 vaccination and also expedite process of vaccination to all.

In a media release, she said, “The shortage of vaccines is known to all and Udupi district is also facing the same. People are waiting for second dose since first dose in March. Most of the primary health centres have stopped vaccination programme because of shortage of doses. Senior citizens from faraway places are facing trouble as they have to travel to district hospital. Even the district hospital is facing vaccine shortage since a few days.

“The district administration have given prior information to media regarding vaccine supply on Saturday, but it was not co-ordinated effectively which is saddening. Rural people are facing hardships as they have to come in rented vehicles and wait long hours for vaccination. Few politicians are using influence in vaccination centres to vaccinate people they know and due to this, people who are having token had to return as vaccines were not available,” she stated.

Veronica also questioned the help taken by the district administration from political parties for vaccination. She urged the deputy commissioner and health officials to solve this problem immediately or else poor people will face hardships.
