Bantwal, May 8: "Prevention of Covid-19 mortality should be the first priority," said Mangaluru constituency MLA UT Khader.

He was speaking during a meeting to contain the spread of Covid-19, with the officials at SGSY Hall at Bantwal taluk panchayat.

He also directed the EO of the taluk panchayat to compulsorily provide ration kits and medicines to the residence of Covid-19 patients.

Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan said that measures have been taken to check the spread of Covid-19. "If the gram panchayat task force committee members work effectively, the spread of Covid-19 can be contained. The spread of Covid can be stopped if the unnecessary wandering of people is stopped. This is possible, with the cooperation of the members of the task force and the local representatives,” he said.

He also informed that if the public calls helpline number 1077, people will get 24*7 assistance in Dakshina Kannada.

Taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Karkera, vice-president Abbas Ali, standing committee member Mallika Shetty, tahsildar Rashmi SR, TP EO Rajanna, THO Dr Deepa Prabhu, and others were present.
