Mangaluru: Various places in coastal Karnataka receive good rainfall

Mangaluru, May 4: Different parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts received rain with thunder during the late evening hours on Monday May 3. It rained in the city, Haleangady, Kinnigoli and other places. Because of heavy rain and wind in Moodbidri, power supply was snapped. Good rain was also reported from Mulky and Bajpe areas.

Sullia and Beltangady taluks received widespread rainfall. Many places in Bantwal and Puttur taluks also got rain. Some places in Kundapur taluk too got rainfall with thunder.

After the retaining wall of a drain breached at Sambholya, Gerukatte in Beltangady taluk, water gushed into plantations and fields and inflicted huge losses. As water flowed into fields and again onto the roads, mud and slush got deposited in the plantations and on the road

After a tree fell on the power transformer at Subrahmanya, the electric pole was broken and the transformer was damaged. A fallen tree near Bhagawati colony on Hoddur broke three electric poles and damaged Goddess Marikamba temple.
