Udupi: Police arrest 26-year-old youth on charges of stealing bikes

Udupi, Apr 15: Udupi police station SI Vasappa Naik and staff Marigowda, Jeevan, Santhosh Rathod and Malthesh on directions and guidance from their senior officers have arrested a bike thief on April 14.

The man identified as Sagar Sudeer Hargapure (26), a resident of Belagavi was arrested in front of Tallur Wines, Irodikar Junction, Udupi. Police also confiscated two bikes that were in his possession. The accused also confessed to having stolen a bike at Lashkar vicinity of Mysuru.

The confiscated vehicles were a KA36 EW 4967 Pulsar bike worth about Rs 95,000 owned by Basavaraj, stolen from Bhujanga Park, Udupi on February 24 and KA45 S 6723 Hero Honda Splendour bike from Haliala police station limits.

The accused had failed the BSc course and would work as a salesman at private malls in Mangaluru and Udupi. He was staying as a paying guest in Chaarvi PG, Udupi.
