Mangaluru: Catechism Day celebrated at St Lawrence Church Bondel

Mangaluru, Apr 12: Catechism Day was celebrated on April 11 at St Lawrence Church Bondel. Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay director, Fr Silvester Vincent Lobo was the main celebrant while the assistant parish priest Fr Rupesh Tauro was the concelebrant.

During the mass, thanksgiving prayers were offered to Divine Mercy for blessings bestowed throughout the year. The liturgy was led by the children who participated actively in the eucharistic banquet.

After the eucharist a small programme was organised at the church pendall.

Guest, Fr Silvester Vincent Lobo in his speech said, "Reading one verse of the Bible a day is a good thing, meditating on God's Word will give you a greater understanding of what God wants from and for you, thereby providing you with guidance." Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza in his speech thanked all the catechism teachers for their selfless service to the children of the parish. He was grateful to Fr Clifford Pinto, the Catechism director and the principal of St Lawrence English Medium School and coordinator Santhosh Misquith for their dedicated work towards catechism the parish.

The dais was honoured by the presence of all the dignitaries, Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza, parish priest, Silvester Vincent Lobo, the chief guest, Fr Rupesh Tauro, Santhosh Misquith catechism Coordinator, vice-president Reginald D'Souza, Secretary of the parish council Steevan Noronha who were on the dais.

Teachers were honoured for their service given throughout the year. Children were given prizes for regular attendance and securing first, second and third prizes in the catechism exam and for maintaining their record book.

Catechism coordinator- Santhosh Misquith proposed the vote of thanks. Meena Barboza welcomed the guests and Lavina Menezes was the master of ceremony.
