Kundapur: Funds collected in Yakshagana costumes for treatment of young boy

Kundapur, Apr 12: Contributions were collected under the leadership of Hoysala Nada Trust at Kundapur Saturday fair and Kundapur market wearing Yakshagana costumes for the medical treatment of a young boy suffering from thalassemia.

Amateur Yakshagana artiste, Benki Mani Santhu Arehole wore the costumes of Mahishasura, visited all the shops at the Kundapur weekly fair and Kundapur market and collected donations. He was helped by Nandish Jannadi. Hoysala Trust Nada Padukone members participated in the collection.

Rs 40 lac is required toward the treatment of the boy. His family is hoping for a helping hand from kind-hearted donors.

Six-year-old Rishik, son of Byndoor taluk Paduvari gram residents Sumangala Acharya and Rajendra Acharya is suffering from thalassemia for the last six years. He is studying at government higher primary school, Padukone, Kotegudde. He is under treatment at Manipal hospital. The family members working on daily wages for their living borrowed money from every source possible and have spent several lacs already for the treatment. The doctors of Narayana Hradayalaya, Bengaluru who examined the child issued a prescription for bone marrow transplant that will cost between Rs 35 lac and Rs 40 lac.

The parents of the child are shocked at knowing the required amount. While they are struggling for a few thousands, they cannot dream of arranging Rs 40 lac. They are worried about how to collect money for their child’s surgery.

The family will have a ray of hope if kind-hearted people donate generously. Donors and philanthropists need to respond by being generous and humane providing courage to the helpless family.
