Kundapur, Apr 11: “U K Sadananda has made false and derogatory statements against me at Kollur. There is no relationship between the allegations, the people mentioned by him and me. I will be registering a defamation lawsuit against him,” said senior advocate Sadananda Shetty. He gave clarifications with documentary evidence against the allegations in a press conference held at the press club here on Saturday April 10.

He said, “I am not conducting any business of lending money on interest. I have not lent any loan on interest to Sadananda. I have not received any interest from him. As I have not received any blank cheques or signed paper from him, there is no question of me giving his blank cheque to others. I have no connection between his businesses with others.

“We got acquainted due to building rental business from the year 2015. He had issued a receipt for Rs 40 lac received from me, my wife, my wife’s brother and his wife regarding a written agreement about the sale of a 50-cent land on January 22, 2018. As the land was not sold as per agreement, he said that he will refund the amount and repaid Rs 10 lac by way of a bank cheque. As the cheques for Rs 15 lac and for Rs 10 lac issued by him later for the balance amount bounced, a case is registered in the court. He agreed to pay the amount and has paid Rs five lac on December 10, 2018 by a separate cheque.

“Civil and criminal cases are pending in the court for payment of balance amount. He has let out illegally on rent the building constructed on the land,” he said.
