Bantwal, Apr 10: Jaya Acharya (62), proprietor of J L Jewellers of Panemangalore on Friday evening passed away in a private hospital at B C Road due to a heart attack.

He had served as the vice president of Kalikamba Vinayaka temple renovation committee, Mangaluru. For the past several years he conducted mass Upanayana for poor children from his money.

He has left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a large number of friends and relatives.
