Udupi: Block education officer Manjula suspended for negligence in duty

Udupi, Apr 7: Udupi block education officer (BEO) Manjula K was suspended over allegations of negligence in duty by the education department.

She was then issued transfers orders. She is now moved to DIET Mangaluru.

The action was taken against Manjula as per the complaints received by the department on negligence in duty as BEO.

The complaints also included appointment of guest teachers for the vacant post after transfer of a government teacher which is against the rules of the department. It is also said that BEO had transferred a sum of Rs 15.03 lac directly to SDMC account of Yermal school which was a compensation amount for the school land which was acquired by NHAI for national highway work. As per rules, the amount was to be transferred to the zilla panchayat and from there it was to be distributed.
