Udupi, Apr 3: In a tragic incident, Sabita (43), wife of Dasu Gurudas (44), resident of Hadibettu Paduthonse gram, Malpe died after a snake bite. A venomous snake bit her behind her right toe at about 2.30 pm on April 2 when she was plucking grass in the plantations belonging to her elder sister.

Dasu, her husband tightly tied a cloth above the wound and carried her to Ajjarkad government hospital in a vehicle belonging to a person from the locality. The doctor at the hospital examined her, administered medicine, gave her an injection at 3.30 pm and got her shifted to the hospital ward. Sabita vomited thrice after that and experienced breathing difficulties. The doctors suggested shifting her to TMA Pai hospital for further treatment.

She was shifted to TMA Pai hospital immediately. Though the doctor at the hospital treated her, she died without responding to it, said the doctor. A case at Malpe police station under crime UDR No 16/2021 CRPC section 174 (c) is registered in the police station.
