Udupi, Apr 2: Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society (BCCS) Limited and District Cooperative Union felicitated Udupi District Cooperative Union president, general manager of BCCS Udupi B Jayakar Shetty Indrali after he was elected as the director of Karnataka State Cooperative Federation, Bengaluru, on Thursday April 1 at Jagannath Sabha Bhavana, here.
After receiving the honour from various associations, Jayakar Shetty said, “I would like to thank the administrative board and all the staff, who have supported me throughout my journey in the cooperative society. I would like to be the voice of all cooperatives in solving their problems. I will seek blessings of seniors, wishes from juniors, which will strengthen me. I will put my sincere efforts and work hard for the betterment of the cooperative system.
“I had started BCCS at a tender age with no knowledge of accounts. I started savings account from Rs 5. Now it has grown up like a huge tree and given employment to thousands of people. The annual turnover of the association in 1980 which was a total of Rs 6,200 share capital and Rs 4,664 deposit from just 306 members, has now reached an average of over Rs 3.75 crore per day. Currently, it has Rs 350 crore of deposit. Out of the Rs 260 crore of outbound debt in the report year, Rs 13 crore is annual profit. The society has 10 branches out of which 9 branches have their own building. This is made possible because of the best administrative board and dedicated staff.
"The society has district unions in 29 districts across the state. I received a wonderful opportunity to serve this sector. I wish I will render same service with the support of all,” he said.
Sanjiv Kanchan, president of BCCS, presided over the felicitation ceremony.
Purushottam P Shetty, convenor, centenary committee, L Umanath, vice president, Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society, Vasanth Kamath, Padmanabh Nayak, Vinay Kumar T A, Haji U Abdul Razak and George Samuel, directors, Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Indurama and other were present.
The programme started with an invocation by Raghavendra Bhat.
Praveen Kumar, branch manager welcomed the gathering. Rajesh V Sherigar, assistant general manager of Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society, rendered the vote of thanks.
