Brahmavar: Victim of fire mishap dies at hospital

Brahmavar, Apr 1: A woman, identified as Usha Kotian (58), who had suffered burns in a fire accident at her home, breathed her last at the hospital where she was being treated on the evening of Tuesday March 30.

Usha was bringing a milk vessel down from the gas stove on the night of March 16 when nylon nightie she was wearing suddenly caught fire. She had suffered serious burn injuries to her hands, face, abdomen region, neck, thighs etc. Her son, Pradeep, who tried to help her also sustained burn injuries in his hands and face.

Both were rushed to the government hospital at Ajjarkad Udupi where they were treated. Usha was later shifted to KMC Hospital Manipal as she needed specialised treatment. Usha who had suffered 56 percent burn injuries succumbed on Tuesday evening.

A complaint about the unnatural death has been registered at Brahmavar police station.
