Dharwad: Woman lured by offering better job, sold

Dharwad, Apr 1: In an incident which became public with delay, a woman was promised a better job but was sold after she agreed to the offer.

The woman who was deceived through the offer belongs to Uppinabetageri village near here. She has filed case of human trafficking against Dileep Jain from Amminabavi village. The complaint has been registered in the women's police station here.

The lady was earlier working in a shop at Azad Park area in the city. Dileep promised her to find a better job at Bengaluru. The lady was convinced of his promise. He took her to Ahmedabad by falsely telling her that they were going to Bengaluru. He then kept her in the house of a Marwadi as domestic servant for 15 days.

Thereafter, he took her to Padanapura near Ahmedabad and sold her for two lac rupees. As soon as she came to know that she had been sold, the woman ran away from there, went to the house where she had worked briefly and sought help. The family dropped her off at the residence of a family friend in Mumbai. This friend pitied the woman and arranged for her to go back to her village. Only after she came back and told about her ordeal to her family members did they come to know about what she had gone through.

Now, the personnel of the women's police station who have registered a case against Dileep Jain, have begun investigation.
