Bengaluru, Mar 31: Honorary president of Karnataka Transport Workers Action Union, said that the KSRTC employees will go on indefinite strike from April 7. Addressing a press meet held here on Tuesday, he said the employees will undertake state-wide protest right from April 1. He said that the government, which had promised to meet important demands, had dithered from its promise. He said that the government had invited the employees for the second round of talks on April 1. He said that if the government assures in writing to meet all their demands, the strike will be withdrawn.

In the meanwhile, advocates representing the corporation told the court that a suit has been filed in the civil court to recover Rs 2.5 crore loss incurred by the transport corporation against the employees’ unions which went on strike in December. They also said that disciplinary action will be taken against 4,000 employees who went on strike.

The advocates were responding to a public interest litigation filed in the high court urging the government to recover losses from the staff who went on strike. The bench presided over by Chief Justice A S Oka adjourned the hearing to June 4, duly asking the government to file detailed report and also to submit a report on action taken after filing the first information report.
