Chamarajanagar, Mar 31: It has come to the knowledge of the authorities with inordinate delay that a junior student was ragged by the senior students at the students’ hostel of Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences. A complaint in this regard also was filed in the police station.

The police have since got bonds signed by the senior students to the effect that they will ensure that such incidents will not recur. No first information report however was registered. The students were warned and their parents were asked to visit the police station.

Additional superintendent of police, Anita Haddannavar, visited the college on Tuesday morning and held consultation with the senior students. The dean of the college also has issued warning to seven students who reportedly were involved with the ragging incident. Dean of the college, Dr Sanjeev, said that the college took action immediately after receiving the complaint and the students have been warned.

Deputy superintendent of police, Anita B Kappannavar, stated that she visited the college and created awareness against ragging. She said that it has been decided to summon the parents and warn them too about the incident.
