Mangaluru: Finance company accused of replacing pledged ornaments with fake ones

Mangaluru, Mar 27: A person named Firoze Khan has filed a complaint with Pandeshwar police station here, in which he has claimed that a finance company located at Mulihithlu has replaced the ornaments pledged by him as security for gold loan, with fake ones.

He said that a few months back, he had raised a loan of Rs 13.8 lac by pledging 249 grams of gold ornaments in the name of his daughter and 140 grams of ornaments in the name of his wife. "On Monday March 22, employees of the finance firm came to my home to inform me that the ornaments pledged by me are fake and demanded for the immediate clearance of the loan. At the time of pledging the gold ornaments, the finance company staff had checked the ornaments for genuinely and accepted them as genuine. Now, they have replaced the original ornaments and cheated me," he stated in the complaint.
