Haveri: Boy accused of stealing tortured, killed

Haveri, Mar 25: In a tragic incident which happened at Uppunasi village of Hangal taluk in the district, a ten years old boy was accused of stealing from a shop. He was tortured, as a result of which he lost his life.

Hareeshayya Hiremath (10), son of Nagayya Hireathi from Uppunasi village was charged of stealing money. Shivarudrappa Haveri had charged him with stealing money from his shop. The shop owner was joined by some others from the village in attacking the boy in an inhuman way. The mother who went to save her son was also beaten up, it is said.

The boy breathed hisb last at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences at Huballi on Tuesday. The parents of the boy held a protest along with relatives, accusing the police of refusing to accept their complaint.
