Bengaluru: HC takes up contempt of court case against Bantwal tahsildar

Bengaluru, Mar 14: The state high court has decided to try contempt of court petition filed against Bantwal tahsildar S Rashmi. Rashmi has been accused of failing to allot land as per rules and norms to a retired army officer in spite of clear high court order.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel S K Bhat, has filed the contempt of court petition. The petition was taken up by a division bench of the high court presided over by Chief Justice A S Oka.

Bhat had filed the contempt of court petition that claims that the tahsildar had failed to sanction him land as per rules in spite of the court order to that effect. The court will frame charges against the tahsildar.

The bench observed that the tahsildar had totally overlooked the court order. It said that therefore the charge of contempt of court will be framed against Rashmi. The bench adjourned hearing to March 31 after directing the tahsildar to attend the next hearing through video conference facility.
